WV Regional Planning and Development Councils (RPDCs)
Each of the 11 regional planning and development councils below were established by West Virginia law to provide comprehensive planning for the individual service area. Each council typically works closely with local Economic Development Authorities, Public Service Districts, and other local organizations throughout the region.
The regional councils use federal, state, and local funding to assist with projects concerning employment, industry, housing, health, recreation, and environmental protection, to promote stability, growth and progress in West Virginia. They offer services such as technical assistance, grant writing, project administration and special services, such as surveys, census report updates, site inspections of potential business location or development, and intergovernmental reviews, to avoid duplication.
